City Negotiates Purchase of 113 North Gale Apartments for Redevelopment

Every Beverly Hills City Council evening meeting is preceded by a closed session where confidential issues such as litigation, employment and real property is discussed. This week’s closed session agenda featured a city negotiation over the purchase of land at 113 North Gale. That multifamily property is adjacent to city-owned land that fronts on Wilshire and which the city wants to redevelop most likely as housing above retail. If the city and landlord agree on terms then the 113 N Gale parcel will be part of it. What does that mean for tenants at the Gale property?

Metro’s Next Stop: Lasky-Robbins-Young Neighborhood

Metro construction of the purple line extension entered a new phase last year when tunnel boring machines began to chew their way from Century City to the Wilshire/Rodeo station at Reeves. The route taken by these enormous rock-gobbling machines takes them underneath Beverly Hills High School and Lasky, Robbins and Young streets prior to tunneling across Wilshire. And metro has secured easements under multifamily properties all along the way. Another payday for some Beverly Hills landlords!

Metro’ Wilshire-Rodeo Station Work May Continue Through the Holidays

This Tuesday evening City Council will hear a request from Metro to allow construction (specifically station pilings) to continue throughout the holiday period, prior to Thanksgiving and extending through New Years Day. The issue is whether to require Metro to adhere to the schedule already formalized in a memorandum of understanding with the city, or to grant a waiver to allow that work to continue — and if so under what conditions.
