Rent Stabilization Coming Back to Council on Tuesday

Ever since Beverly Hills City Council last January created a rental unit registry to underpin our stabilization program, staffers have been watching the calendar as the days get crossed-off, concerned that come January 22nd we will mark one year since the urgency ordinance was adopted. State law says that any city that creates a rental unit registry certified every permissible rent and resolve all landlord and tenant appeals within that one-year window. Time is running out!

City Council Hands Tenant-Protections a Major Setback

City Council handed residents who rent a major setback tonight when the Council majority appeared to second-guess its earlier commitment to create a rental unit registry. In semi-retreat our councilmembers signaled that Beverly Hills may not yet be ready, and that has significant implications for both tenants and landlords.
